“Yogurt Shop Murders” Coming Soon To ABC, Hulu & Disney+
Disney has announced details on an upcoming “20/20” documentary called “Yogurt Shop Murders”, which will be coming soon to ABC, Hulu and Disney+.
It was a case that stunned the nation more than three decades ago and continues to make headlines today. In December 1991, four teenage girls were found murdered inside an Austin, Texas, yogurt shop, and the store had been set ablaze, resulting in the loss of critical crime scene evidence. Leaving law enforcement with few leads, four teenage boys were identified as suspects. Two gave false confessions and were subsequently convicted of the murders. One was sentenced to death row, and the other was sentenced to life in prison.
Ultimately, their convictions were overturned, and the case went cold, leaving the victims’ families fighting for answers. Decades later, a new cold case detective cracked the case wide open, leading authorities to a serial killer. And just last week, in an emotional courtroom, the case that has haunted Texas for 34 years reached its conclusion, giving families and the formerly accused the answers and justice they deserved.
In an exclusive network interview, the killer’s daughter speaks to “20/20” along with family members of all four victims, as well as law enforcement officials and genetic genealogist CeCe Moore, whose work helped link this serial killer to murders across the southeast.
