20th Television Developing New Media Drama “Under Pressure”
Disney’s 20th Television is developing a new media drama for ABC called “Under Pressure”, which is based on the hit Brazilian show, Sob Pressão (aka Under Pressure).
This new series is being created by David Shore, Jessica Grasl and Garrett Lerner, who were behind the hit ABC series, “The Good Doctor”, which itself was an adaptation of a Korean original. Shore was also behind the hit drama series, “House”, and he has an overall deal with 20th Television studios.
“Under Pressure” is a medical drama set at All Saints Hospital, an understaffed and under-resourced hospital in Savannah, Georgia. At the heart of the hospital is CAM, a surgeon and man of faith who cares deeply for his patients and community. But beyond just the medical cases, the show will focus on a complicated love triangle. It will have all the “will they-won’t they” tension and push and pull of a “traditional” soapy, love story, but with a twist that will leave the audience redefining their ideas of love, loss, and faith.
According to Deadline, this series has been written by Jessica Grasl and Garrett Lerner.
As with any show in early development, things could change, and it might not necessarily be created, but if it does, expect it to be released on ABC, Hulu and Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world. No other details on this project have been revealed, such as who will star in it, or when it will be released.
