“Tell Me Lies” Season 3 Debut Becomes Huge Hit For Hulu & Disney+
Last week, Disney released the first three episodes of the third season of the hit drama series, “Tell Me Lies”, which follows Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) as they rekindle their tumultuous romance in time for the spring semester at Baird College. While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with. Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviours. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.
The new season had a strong debut on Hulu and Disney+, as Deadline has reported that the premiere pulled in 5 million views globally across both streaming services within the first seven days of release. It also had lots of social media engagement, which was 220% higher than for the premiere of the second season, with total engagement on “Tell Me Lies” social media posts grew 580%.
The viewership is up 150% on the premiere of the first season and marks the first time that Disney has revealed viewership data for the show, highlighting how popular it has become.
Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t release viewership data on its shows that often, as it tends to cherry-pick the best results and mix around the data, such as how many days the views are counted for, making it hard to compare between shows. Recent debuts included “King Of The Hill”, which pulled in 4.4 million views on Hulu and Disney+ in its first seven days and “Paradise” pulled in 6.3 million views in the first seven days.
It’ll be a few weeks until the Nielsen streaming chart is release, where we can compare the US viewership of “Tell Me Lies” against other shows on the different streaming platforms.
Either way, this data being revealed does indicate that Disney is pleased with the viewing numbers and hopefully, more seasons will follow.
New episodes of “Tell Me Lies” are released each Tuesday, and the previous seasons are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, and on Disney+ around the world.
