Disney+ Remaking “The Last Man On Earth”
Disney continues to build out its international original content for Disney+ as the streaming service hosted a special showcase event in Paris this week and announced that it is working on a French remake of the classic American comedy series, “The Last Man on Earth”.
The series will tell the story of how a disaster has led to the extinction of the human race. After travelling the country, Adam must come to the obvious: he is the last man on Earth. Free of everything, it enjoys the benefits of loneliness… but remains desperately alone. He remains hopeful that another survivor will exist. And maybe even a survivor.
20th Television was behind the American version of this series, which aired on the FOX channel from 2015 until 2018. It starred Will Forte, along with Kristen Schaal, January Jones, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig. The American version chronicles the life and adventures of an average guy – and humanity’s last hope – who discovers what life is like when no one is telling you what you can and cannot do.
This new version will star Artus, who has previously starred in “The Bureau” and “A Little Something Extra”. It will be produced by Iconoclast. Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2026, so it’ll be a while until it arrives on Disney+. As with other French originals, we should expect a global release on Disney+.
While we wait for the new French version, all four seasons of the American version are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
