Disney+ Adds Oscar Short-Listed Short “The Pearl Comb”
Just ahead of this year’s Academy Awards, Disney has been adding a number of Oscar short-listed live-action and animated shorts onto Disney+ in Europe, including “Retirement Plan” and “A Friend Of Dorothy“.
Another short, “The Pearl Comb”, has also been added onto Disney+ across Europe, following it recently being shortlisted for an Oscar in the Short Film category.
In 1893, an endearing Cornish fisherman’s wife captures the attention of the medical profession as the first person to ever cure someone of Tuberculosis. A doctor, hell-bent on proving a woman’s place is in the home and not practising medicine, is sent to investigate her miraculous claim – only to discover the source of her unearthly power.
The short stars Beatie Edney, Ali Cook, Simon Armstrong, Clara Page, Roxana Cook and Thomas Stocker. It has been written and directed by Ali Cook, with Miranda Richardson and David Lancaster executive producing.
This new horror short has been shown at a number of festivals and events, including the British Short Film Awards.
