Disney+ Reveals Details On The Most Watched Films & Shows In 2025

With 2025 coming to a close, Disney has released some new details on how some of its films and shows have performed on Disney+ and Hulu, giving us an insight into what people are watching.

Over the past year, Disney+ has continued to evolve, with the introduction of ABC News and ESPN into the app, along with the international rollout of Hulu within Disney+.  This has resulted in the Disney+ app getting the biggest refresh since its launch.

Here are some of the facts revealed:

  • May 4th was the most popular day of the year for viewership on Disney+, with Star Wars content clearly the main driver, as audiences around the world celebrate Star Wars Day.
  • “Bluey” was the most-watched series of the year, with 26.5 million rewatches from audiences.
  • Seven of the most-watched international originals were released this year, which included “The Stolen Girl” from EMEA, “Nine Puzzles” from APAC and “The Best Heart Attack Of My Life” in Latin America.
  • ABC News is the most-watched Streams channel on Disney+ (Currently, Streams only operates on Disney+ in the US)
  • “Moana 2” was the most-watched movie of the year, with 80 million views.
  • “Dancing With The Stars” was the most-watched live title of the year on Disney+
  • FX’s biggest premiere of the year was “Alien: Earth”, with viewers watching over 100 million hours.
  • 4 Million Disney+ Perks have been redeemed
  • There have been over 160 million views/listens of companion podcasts
  • “Devil In The Family: The Fall Of Ruby Franke” was the most-watched documentary series
  • 90 million hours of sports have been viewed on Disney+ since ESPN launched
  • 40 million hours of ocean-themed content from National Geographic were viewed on Disney+
  • The virtual ride-along video of the “Incredicoaster” from Disney California Adventure has been viewed over 3 million times.

Roger’s Take: Some of these stats shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as “Bluey” is consistently found at the top of the Nielsen charts each week and following the success of “Moana”, which was so popular on Disney+ for years, the sequel was always going to be popular.  It also shows how Disney can get additional value from films on Disney+ after a good theatrical run.

A few stats on this list feel a little less impactful, such as “Dancing With The Stars” being the most-watched live title of the year, since it aired weekly for months and is an established show, and there have only been a handful of other live events.

I was also surprised at how low the viewership of live sports was, especially when compared to National Geographic ocean videos, considering the amount of money being spent on live-sports.  Though I expect this will continue to grow as ESPN becomes a bigger part of Disney+ globally.
