“Project Runway” Renewed For Season 22
Just one month after the release of the finale of the 21st season of the hit competition series, “Project Runway”, Disney has confirmed that it has renewed the show for another season, which will premiere on Freeform, Hulu and Disney+ in 2026.
When “Project Runway” debuted in 2004, the series broke new ground and helped revolutionise the reality competition genre. Since then, the Emmy-winning series has aired in more than 125 countries.
The long-standing series has had a profound effect on the fashion industry, launching the careers of prolific designers, including Christian Siriano, Austin Scarlett, Leanne Marshall, Irina Shabayeva, Michael Costello and Bishme Cromartie, among many others.
The series returned earlier this summer on Freeform, Hulu, and Disney+, with Heidi Klum returning to host, along with Christian Siriano as a mentor and judges Law Roach and Nina Garcia.
Over the years, “Project Runway” previously ran on Bravo and Lifetime, before moving to Disney’s networks. The corporate synergy within the Disney empire did impact the new series, with a few Disney-themed challenges, including a Princess & Villains episode, as well as cameos from the cast of the hit comedy series, “Abbott Elementary”.
·”Project Runway” is produced by Spyglass Media Group and Alfred Street Industries. Gary Barber and Sean Hoagland serve as executive producers for Spyglass. Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, Michael Rucker and San Heng serve as executive producers for Alfred Street Industries. Klum, Siriano and Garcia also serve as executive producers.
The latest season of “Project Runway” is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
Roger’s Take: With a format that’s lasted for over twenty seasons, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that Disney has renewed the show, especially as its being able to hit both Disney’s linear and streaming platforms.
