“Something Wicked This Way Comes” Coming Soon To Disney+
Disney has announced that the classic live-action movie, “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, will be coming soon to Disney+.
The film tells the story of how the ominous arrival of Dark’s Pandemonium Carnival in Green Town sparks the curiosity of two boys, Will Halloway and Jim Nightshade. Dark transforms some of the townspeople as the boys try to find out the secret of the carnival. The boys hide from Dark, who threatens Will’s father, the town librarian, who, in turn, finally helps good triumph over evil as he saves the boys and causes the destruction of the carnival.
It stars Jason Robards, Jonathan Pryce, Diane Ladd and Pam Grier. This movie has been directed by Jack Clayton and it’s based on the novel by Ray Bradbury, who also wrote the screenplay for the movie.
Disney originally released the movie back in 1983, but it only pulled in $8.4 million at the box office, on a budget of $20 million. Over the years, it has become a cult classic, and at the time of its release, it was unique as Disney was looking to create movies that weren’t in its more traditional animated or family-friendly style.
The movie was re-released on Blu-Ray back in 2021 as a Disney Movie Club exclusive, and up until the Disney+ release, it hasn’t been available on digital platforms to watch.
“Something Wicked This Way Comes” will be coming to Disney+ in the United States and Canada on Friday, 3rd October 2025. No release date for other countries like the UK or Australia has been announced yet, but hopefully it’ll be a global release.
Roger’s Take: It’s great to finally see this classic movie heading to Disney+, and hopefully, enough people will check it out to encourage Disney to release more classic content on the platform. This is a movie I’ve never seen, but I’ve seen so many people requesting it for Disney+ over the years, I’ll give it a whirl.
