Marvel Renews “Daredevil: Born Again” For A Third Season
One of this year’s biggest hits for Disney+ was “Daredevil: Born Again”, which is a revival of the popular Netflix series, “Daredevil”, and it saw the return of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as their iconic characters, Daredevil and Kingpin.
In Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavours in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.
During a recent interview with Marvel Head of TV, Streaming & Animation Brad Winderbaum revealed that a third season of the hit series, “Daredevil: Born Again”, is in the works and filming is scheduled to begin next year.
“In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for Season 3 and we start shooting next year,”
The first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” was released on Disney+ in March and became one of the biggest hits of the year, pulling in 7.5 million viewers worldwide in the first five days.
The second season is set to arrive on Disney+ around the world in March 2026, and it will see Krysten Ritter return as Jessica Jones. While filming was underway on the second season, a “Punisher” special presentation for Disney+ was also filmed, which could potentially tie in with the upcoming “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” movie, which comes out next summer, since The Punisher will make an appearance in the film.
While no date for the release of the third season has been confirmed yet, Marvel has shifted its strategy for its television shows, instead now focusing on creating fewer shows, with smaller budgets, while also making more seasons of each show, much like Marvel TV did before Disney+ launched.
“Daredevil: Born Again” stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, with Ayelet Zurer and Jon Bernthal. However, it’s unknown who will return for the third season.
The show’s executive producers include Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Chris Gary, Dario Scardapane, Christopher Ord, Matthew Corman, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.
Season one of “Daredevil: Born Again”, along with the former Netflix original series, “Daredevil”, is available to stream on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: With Marvel’s new strategy of making more seasons of cheaper-to-make shows, leaning in on more Daredevil makes total sense, and due to its more street-level hero focus, there are plenty of opportunities for Marvel to expand “The Defenders” characters, while also hopefully setting the show up for more seasons.
