Disney+ Adds Over A Million New Subscribers
Today, the Walt Disney Company released its latest quarterly results for the fiscal third quarter of 2025, which means we get an updated look at the number of subscribers Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ have.
This gives us a clear indication of how the apps are doing, especially with growth or decline in subscriber numbers. These subscriber numbers are based on how many there were on June 28th, 2025.
Since the last quarter, Disney+ and Hulu have been able to add 2.6 million subscribers around the world
Just as important to the company is how much money the streaming business makes, and Disney has revealed that their Direct-to-Consumer operating income increased from increased 6%, which included an adverse impact of 3 percentage points due to Disney+ Hotstar being included in the prior-year quarter’s results.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement:
“We are pleased with our creative success and financial performance in Q3 as we continue to execute across our strategic priorities. The company is taking major steps forward in streaming with the upcoming launch of ESPN’s direct-to-consumer service, our just-announced plans with the NFL, and our forthcoming integration of Hulu into Disney+, creating a truly differentiated streaming proposition that harnesses the highest-caliber brands and franchises, general entertainment, family programming, news, and industry-leading sports content. And we have more expansions underway around the world in our parks and experiences than at any other time in our history. With ambitious plans ahead for all our businesses, we’re not done building, and we are excited for Disney’s future.”
It’s also interesting that he does state that Hulu will soon be integrated into Disney+ following the recent purchase of the remaining stake of Hulu from Comcast.
Disney has also provided a detailed breakdown per region as of June 28th 2025: (Million)
- Disney+ – Domestic (US & Canada) – 57.8
- Disney+ – International – 69.9
- Disney+ Global – 127.8
- Hulu – Million Subscribers (US Only) – 51.2
To compare, here are the subscription numbers (Millions) from May’s Investor Call:
- Disney+ – Domestic (US & Canada) – 57.8
- Disney+ – International – 68.2
- Disney+ Global – 126
- Hulu – Million Subscribers (US Only) – 50.3
Roger’s Take: It’s been a good, solid quarter for Disney+ subscriber growth, as the numbers are going in the right direction, but it’ll be interesting to see how Disney can push forward to increase that number, which ultimately will increase the streaming division’s profits.
