Disney’s Searchlight Pictures and Entertainment One’s Makeready are teaming up to create a new film called “Not Okay”.

“Not Okay” will Star Zoey Deutch to star in the film, who has previously appeared in “Zombieland: Double Tap” and “The Politician“.   She will also be an executive producer on the movie. This new film will be directed by Quinn Shephard, who also wrote the film.

The movie tells the story of a misguided young woman (Deutch), desperate for friends and fame, fakes a trip to Paris to up her social media presence. When a terrifying incident takes place in the real world and becomes part of her imaginary trip, her white lie becomes a moral quandary that offers her all the attention she’s wanted.

Filming is due to begin production later this summer in New York.

Makeready’s Brad Weston & Negin Salmasi will be producing the film along with Bad Education producer Caroline Jaczko.  Searchlight Picture’s Chan Phung, Miranda Hill and Apolline Berty will also be producing the film.

“Not Okay” is due to be released directly on Hulu in the United States.  It’s not clear if the film will also be released as a Star Original on Disney+ due to Entertainment One’s Makeready also being involved.

No release date has yet been announced.
