New casting details on the upcoming live-action version Disney’s animated classic, Peter Pan, called “Peter Pan and Wendy”, have been revealed by Deadline .

The role of Tinker Bell will be played by Yara Shahidi, who currently stars in the ABC series, Black-Ish. Her character was so popular, Disney also made a spin-off series called Grown-Ish.

She will be joining Jude Law, who will be playing Captain Hook, with Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson playing the roles of Peter Pan and Wendy. The film will be directed by David Lowery, with Toby Halbrooks co-writing the project and Jim Whitaker will be producing the movie.

Disney had been trying to secure larger known actors for the role including Margot Robbie and Taylor Swift.

Filming on “Peter Pan and Wendy” is due to be filmed in Vancouver, Canada, with production set to begin in March and finish in late June.

“Peter Pan and Wendy” is set to be released in theatres first, rather than being a Disney+ Original.
