Disney has announced that the tenth season of the popular National Geographic series “Wicked Tuna”, will be coming to Disney+ in the United States on Friday 28th May. No international release date has yet been confirmed.

Wicked Tuna follows a group of salty fishermen from the nation’s oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts, as they make their living the way it’s been done for centuries – rod and reel fishing, one catch at a time – all in pursuit of the bluefin tuna.

New episodes include:

  • Keep the Tradition Alive – The pandemic challenges this year’s bluefin season.
  • Payday Baby – The fleet sees a bump in prices, pushing everyone to fish even harder for a paycheck,
  • Middlebank Monster – A group of fishermen in Gloucester, Mass., hauls in tuna.
  • Tuna Master – Faced with intense challenges like never before, Captain Spurge motivates the fleet to work.
  • Best Laid Plans – Each captain must find a winning strategy to land a bluefin.
  • Bank on It – The captains are determined to prove their worth.
  • Back in the Game – Captain Dave Marciano is making waves early on but will his luck stick around for the entire trip.

Season 10 is just wrapping up its initial run on the National Geographic channel in April.

The tenth season had to be adjusted slightly due to filming restrictions being in place due to the pandemic.

The first 9 seasons are already available on Disney+.

Are you looking forward to the return of new episodes of “Wicked Tuna”?

I have watched every episode of every season available on Disney+ at least 3 times. I love the production and energy of the show. The character however should learn some new lines. It gets old hearing every 5 minutes of every episode or every season, "I need to get some meat on this deck. My family (or whomever) depends of this tuna to pay the bills, or whatever financial need looms in their way. Very few of them say they are out there because they love fishing, even when it gets tough, or "I love just being on the ocean so why not pull some of that tuna on my deck while I am out here. It would be nice to see a more educational aspect to the show. Some of us are fisherman and would love to see and hear the details of how they set up their rigs, how they determine where they will chance the catch of the day, what contributing factors help them choose where they are fishing (like the weather, the moon cycle, the currents, the floor elevation, etc. It could be a little more facinating to hear some of this information in detail. It would also be nice to take a tour of the local area around their harbor. Visit with some of the families in the area. Show what the wholesalers do with the tuna after they offer their bid to the fisherman. Maybe follow a price tuna to Tokyo to see how one of the fisherman's catches also catch the winning bid fo coveted buyers. Most people don't know that the fishermen get jipped even at $25 per pound. Those fish are going for $50 to $300 per pound. The buyer are not fair to the fishermen. Also why aren't the buyers at the dock there to bid on the fishermans catch instead it seems that the fisherman is STUCK with one buyer each that doesn't have to compete with anyone to get their catch. What's with that, unless it is more complex than that, which would be nice to be educated on all of this. I like the program, but it's time to open some new doors, and expose the audience to a more indepth circle of players in the industry.
