Last month, Disney announced in their monthly “Next on Disney+” releases, that “Magic Camp” would be coming to Disney+ on Friday, August 14th as a premiere.

In this movie, a group of misfit campers help a down-on-his-luck magician rediscover his love of magic in Disney’s “Magic Camp,” a heartwarming comedy about finding joy and confidence in self-acceptance.

This movie was originally going to released on April 6th, 2018, but it was pushed back to August 3rd, 2018, then it was delayed again, with Disney saying in February 2018,  that it was no longer getting a theatre release and would instead be coming to Disney+ at a later date.

The movie stars Adam DeVine, Jeffrey Tambor, Gillian Jacobs, Nathaniel McIntyre, Josie Totah and Cole Sand.  It has been directed by Mark Waters and has been written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. The movie is based on a story by actor Steve Martin and has a budget of $24 million.

Magic Camp was originally filmed back in 2017, but with just days until it’s release, we’ve seen nothing about the film.  We haven’t seen a trailer or even an image for the film.  Disney didn’t even include it in their “Next On Disney+” monthly video. However, a photo from the set was released on social media during the filming.

This is never a good sign about a new movie, as Disney appears to be trying to drop the film onto Disney+ without any attention.

Will we see a trailer before the film is added to Disney+?  While Disney was late in promoting “The One And Only Ivan”, they still released the trailer over a month before it was released and no doubt, without the Coronavirus situation, Disney would have been promoting it earlier, since it made little sense to advertise once cinemas had closed.

Or will Magic Camp be delayed again, pushing it back further this year?  It would be much easier to delay something, with nobody really knowing anything about it.

With next to no information on the film, it doesn’t look this film is about to blow fans away, since there is no hype or excitement about this movie yet.

Disney usually loves to promote their original content as much as possible, but no news doesn’t usually mean good news, when it comes to promoting a new film.  Especially during a period when new content is less frequent.

Why do you think Disney is “hiding” Magic Camp?

The real reason is due to the sexual harassment allegations from Jeffrey Tambor. Also Disney just Officialy released the trailer of Magic Camp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAmcupYhwKA

Maybe it has to do with Josie Totah coming out as transgender. I see by the dates and the pictures that this movie was done before her transition. Idk though.
