Saturday Morning Cartoons are remembered fondly by an entire generation, and now with Disney moving Disney+ Original series from to Wednesday’s on Fridays, let’s talk about why Disney should use Disney+ to revive Saturday Morning Cartoons for Disney+.

A Tradition Reborn?

As previously mentioned, there was an entire generation who grew up with Saturday Morning Cartoons like 101 Dalmations: The Series, Pepper Ann, Recess, Mickey Mouse Works, House Of Mouse and Lloyd In Space, so why not revive the tradition with Disney+? Especially when you consider most children have to attend school when the new shows and movies are added to Disney+ in the morning.

Giving The New Series Time To Breathe

As previously mentioned, the main audience of the cartoons in development for Disney+ is children, children who will probably be too busy getting ready for school to watch the cartoons on Friday/Wednesday mornings, so why not release on a Saturday morning when more kids will be able to watch the cartoons on Disney+? Moving Disney+ Original Cartoons to Saturday mornings will also give the new series some more time to breathe and find their audience. If Disney keeps the Original Cartoons on Disney+ on Fridays or Wednesdays, it could lead to them getting buried under other originals with a broader audience as well as the dozen or so library titles added every week.

So What Series Could Disney Release On Saturday Mornings?

If we ignore Monsters At Work (which premieres on July 7th) and Star Wars: The Bad Batch (which is currently airing), then we have the likes of Chip and Dale Park Life, Marvel’s What If,  Baymax, Win Or Lose, Star Wars Visions, Tiana, Iwaju, Dug Days, Cars The Series, Moana The Series and Zooptopia+ to name the animated series and series of shorts that are coming to Disney+ between July 2021 and some time in 2023.

If Disney decided to move all of these animated series to Saturday mornings, it could especially help shows like Iwaju or Win Or Lose, which aren’t based on pre-existing Disney owned franchises, find an audience of children easier so they can build a fanbase.

Will Disney Move These Series?

Disney+ has always released its original series on Friday’s besides special occasions like Star Wars Day (May 4th), but on Wednesday, June 9th Disney premiered the Marvel series Loki and on Wednesday, July 7th, we will see the release of Monster’s, Inc sequel/spinoff series Monsters At Work. If we take into account that Disney has already moved one of the original animated series from a Friday slot and are now moving all original shows, including animated series, to a Wednesday slot, I feel like the logical next step would be to release future Disney+ Original Animated Series on Saturday Mornings so more children can spend their weekends getting lost in those adventures.

What do you think? Should Disney revive Saturday Morning Cartoons on Disney+?
