20th Century Studios next big film release is “The Last Duel”, which is a gripping tale of betrayal and vengeance set against the brutality of 14th century France. A cinematic and thought-provoking drama set in the midst of the Hundred Years War, the film explores the ubiquitous power of men, the frailty of justice and the strength and courage of one woman willing to stand alone in the service of truth. Based on actual events, the film unravels long-held assumptions about France’s last sanctioned duel between Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris, two friends turned bitter rivals.

“The Last Duel” stars Oscar winner Matt Damon (“Good Will Hunting,” “Ford v Ferrari”), two-time Academy Award nominee Adam Driver (“Marriage Story,” “BlacKkKlansman”), Emmy winner Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve,” “Free Guy”) and two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck (“Argo,” “Good Will Hunting”).

This movie is directed by four-time Academy Award nominee Ridley Scott (“The Martian,” “Black Hawk Down,” “Gladiator,” “Thelma & Louise”) with a screenplay by Oscar nominee Nicole Holofcener (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) & Ben Affleck & Matt Damon based on the book by Eric Jager.

The film is produced by Ridley Scott, p,g.a., Kevin J. Walsh, p.g.a. (“Manchester by the Sea”), Jennifer Fox, p.g.a. (“Nightcrawler”), Nicole Holofcener, p.g.a., Matt Damon, p.g.a., Ben Affleck, p.g.a., with Kevin Halloran (“Ford v Ferrari”), Drew Vinton (“Promised Land”), Madison Ainley (“Justice League”) serving as executive producers.

When Is “The Last Duel” Released On Disney+?

Before the pandemic, films would have a much longer time exclusively in cinemas.   Earlier this year, Disney announced that all of its theatrical releases for the rest of 2021 would have a 45-day exclusive window for theatres.

“The Last Duel” is released in cinemas on Friday 15th October 2021.  So the film could be released on Disney+ internationally, such as in the UK, Canada and Australia, along with other digital platforms from Monday 29th November 2021.

However, currently, no Disney+ release date has yet been confirmed. However, it’s likely to be released a little later than that, to align with a Wednesday or Friday release on Disney+.

In the United States, since “The Last Duel” has an R rating, “The Last Duel” won’t be available on Disney+, since Disney+ in the US doesn’t currently offer mature films with this rating.

Also, since it’s a 20th Century Studios film, it’ll be released on HBO Max first because of a pre-existing streaming contract made before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, before eventually heading to Hulu.

Is “The Last Duel” Coming To Disney+ Premier Access?

Disney has announced that the film would be released in cinemas first, with a 45-day exclusive window, so it won’t be getting a Disney+ Premier Access release.
