Searchlight Picture’s “The French Dispatch” brings to life a collection of stories from the final issue of an American magazine published in a fictional 20th-century French city.

It stars Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson.

When Is “The French Dispatch” Released On Disney+?

Before the pandemic, films would have a much longer time exclusively in cinemas.   Earlier this year, Disney announced that all of its theatrical releases for the rest of 2021 would have a 45-day exclusive window for theatres.

“The French Dispatch” is going to be released in selected cinemas on Friday 22nd October 2021, with a wider release the following week on Friday 29th October.  So the film could be released on Disney+ internationally, such as in the UK, Canada and Australia, along with other digital platforms from Monday 6th December 2021.

However, currently, no Disney+ release date has yet been confirmed. However, it’s likely to be released a little later than that, to align with a Wednesday or Friday release on Disney+.

In the United States, since “The French Dispatch” has an R rating, so that means it won’t be available on Disney+, since Disney+ in the US doesn’t currently offer mature films with this rating.   Also, since it’s a 20th Century Studios film, it’ll be released on HBO Max first because of a pre-existing streaming contract made before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, before eventually heading to Hulu.

Is “The French Dispatch” Coming To Disney+ Premier Access?

Disney has announced that the film would be released in cinemas first, with a 45-day exclusive window, so it won’t be getting a Disney+ Premier Access release.

Are you looking forward to the release of “The French Dispatch” on Disney+?
