Pixar’s newest animated movie, “Onward” hits cinemas in the United States on March 6th and tells the story of two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on an journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

So if you are planning on waiting for “Onward” to hit Disney+, remember as with all Walt Disney Studios movies, they will be heading to Disney+ once they’ve finished their theatrical run and have been released on home video formats such as DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital.

Here is a look at how many days it took these films to go from theatrical release to Disney+ in the US:

  • Captain Marvel – 249 days
  • Dumbo – 228 days
  • Avengers: Endgame – 200 days
  • Aladdin – 225 days
  • The Lion King – 193 days
  • Toy Story 4 – 229 days

That means it’s going to be around 6 months, or 200 days before “Onward” is added to Disney+, which means it’s likely to be available on Disney+ in September or even possibly October 2020.   And this may also vary in some countries, as release dates are often slightly different for both Disney+ and theatrical releases.

So if you’re in a rush to see “Onward”, you might want to check it out at the cinema in March.
