It’s Friday and time to take a look at what’s new on Disney+ in Canada today, which includes the debut of a brand new film “Diary Of A Wimpy” plus the new National Geographic film “The Rescue” plus much more.
Here’s the rundown:
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
The first book in Jeff Kinney’s worldwide bestselling series comes to Disney+ in the all-new animated adventure “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” Greg Heffley is a scrawny but ambitious kid with an active imagination and big plans to be rich and famous – he just has to survive middle school first. To make matters worse, Greg’s lovable best friend Rowley seems to coast through life and succeed at everything without even trying! As details of his hilarious – and often disastrous – attempts to fit in fill the pages of his journal, Greg learns to appreciate true friends and the satisfaction that comes from standing up for what is right. Directed by Swinton Scott (“Futurama”) and written and produced by Jeff Kinney, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” features the voices of Brady Noon (“The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”), Ethan William Childress (“mixed-ish”) and Chris Diamantopoulos (“Mickey Mouse”).
Members of a rescue team try to save 12 boys and a coach who are trapped inside a flooded cave in Thailand.
Mickey & Minnie Wish Upon A Christmas
After a series of mishaps, Mickey, Minnie and the gang are separated all over the world and must try to get back to Hot Dog Hills by Christmas Eve. A mysterious and jolly stranger shows up to tell them about The Wishing Star, which could be the secret to bringing everybody home in time to celebrate together.
A Hidden Life
Austrian farmer Franz Jägerstätter faces the threat of execution for refusing to fight for the Nazis during World War II.
Continent 7: Antarctica (Season 1)
In an environment not conducive to human survival, it’s easy to understand why “Continent 7” is the first-ever global long-form documentary series filmed in Antarctica. Scientists and survival experts join forces on the ice, underneath it, and atop mountainous peaks — fighting brutal conditions along the way — to conduct life-changing research. These scientists and the community play a vital role in many urgent fields of science, from climate change to studies of glacier movement, active volcanoes and the search and tagging of marine megafauna that calls this ice home. The six-episode series also pays tribute to the mountaineers, mariners and helicopter pilots, among others, who help keep the scientists safe at work.
Spies In Disguise
Lance Sterling, a secret agent, finds himself transformed into a pigeon. He then sets out with his associate Walter to stop a villain who is using Sterling’s disguise to carry out a dangerous plan.
