In a surprise removal, the live action version of Cinderella has been removed from Disney+ in the United States.

This title had only been added to Disney+ in the United States at the start of September.

Unlike other streaming platforms like Hulu or Netflix, Disney+ doesn’t announce when titles will be leaving.

Cinderella can now be found on Sling in the United States and is once again down to existing streaming contracts causing issues.

After her father unexpectedly dies, young Ella (Lily James) finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and stepsisters, who reduce her to scullery maid. Despite her circumstances, she refuses to despair. An invitation to a palace ball gives Ella hope that she might reunite with the dashing stranger (Richard Madden) she met in the woods, but her stepmother prevents her from going. Help arrives in the form of a kindly beggar woman who has a magic touch for ordinary things.

The film stars Dowton Abbey’s Lily James as Cinderella, with Cate Blanchett playing the Wicked Stepmother. It also stars Richard Madden as the Prince and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

Cinderella is still available on Disney+ in other countries.

Apparently Herbie: Fully Loaded and the Disney Channel Summer Sing-Along are also gone in the US.

I was shocked to see Cinderella (2015) removed and when I contacted Disney+ yesterday (October 1, 2020) when I first noticed it was gone, the customer service representative had no clue. Now we know what happened. Anyway this is bad news, terrible communication, poor customer service, and so disingenuous of Disney not to let customers know. It's just gone! Another reason why I like to have my favorite movies on DVD or Blu-Ray, or downloaded when digital copies are available to where it can't be removed. We are really enjoying Disney+ but this knocks it down half a peg. What else will be disappearing? Come on Disney, fix this problem!

I am disappointed that Cinderella 2015 would be removed. What’s the purpose of paying for a service that doesn’t include all their productions.

I cannot believe this! Honestly was trying to find the time to watch the last 40 minutes of the film for 3 days only to find out it was gone and now I am craving to see the ending!!

Us Too. I have two little girls that started it a few weekends ago on family movie night. They couldn’t stay up late enough to finish a feature film, and then it was school nights. When the next weekend rolled around, Poof it was gone, and Now they cant see the last half of it . Disney you are supposed to make little kids happy, not sad.

  7. Rachel October 10, 2020

Since day one I waited for it to be available on Disney+ because it's one of the very few animated-turned-live-action movies I really like. I am furious & disappointed I'm not able to watch it on Disney+! I don't care how they do it, but Disney needs to straighten this out. They're Disney for Pete's sake! Use some pixie dust & make it happen!

What Disney Plus did was sneaky and terrible. To sneakily remove 2015 Cinderella after having it available for only ONE month? I don’t trust this streaming service anymore. I signed up for one year. Couldn’t be more disappointed that I did that. Disney Plus should be ashamed of itself for doing this.

I was watching Cinderella every night before bed to mediate my depression. It was like being tucked into bed and being read a beautiful story. After a while I became almost dependent on this method to help me cope with the my sorrow as I tried to fall asleep. Without fail Ella would be there to help me try and picture a world where I could get a happy ending too. Disney shouldn’t offer that kind of relief and abruptly take it away.

Disney you suck for removing Cinderella with Lilly James. You left movies that children will not watch by hoping adults will watch them - give your customers a break. Bring Cinderella back with Lilly James and you won't even have to apologize for a bad marketing decision.

I thought Disney+ was supposed to have all Disney movies in a convenient place for people to be able to watch whenever they wanted? This is disappointing ! :(

I was so confused when I didn't see it on there anymore. I watched it while it was on there but I was keeping it on my watchlist because it's one of my favorite movies. I checked back recently only to find out it was gone. Disney needs to do better with this.

Cinderella 2015 is NOT on Disney+ like they advertised. I subscribed to see this movie. I will soon unsubscribe and rent it on Amazon Prime for less money. Clearly more dependable.

I got Disney+ because they advertised this movie!!! It wasn’t on there! I’m furious. I’ve never seen this movie & would love to see it cause I’ve seen, beauty & the beast, Aladdin, etc. I want to see Cinderella too! My son loves Disney+ but he also loves Netflix & if I’m gonna pay for something monthly my whole family has to like it. Not just one toddler. Cause he’s happy with Netflix just as good. They NEED to put Cinderella back on there as advertised. And get better customer service or at least give us good reasoning for making the movie disappear with no warning. Also, we should get a notice before movies or series removal!!!! We deserves better than this & so does out KIDS.

It is suppose to be ALL Disney movies in one place for one price. They scraped the popular version to use the Brandy version from over 20 years ago ?. Just have both. Both are good and different.
