June will see a number of movies and shows added to Disney+ including Artemis Fowl, which was originally due to be released in cinemas, but due to the Coronavirus situation, was moved to Disney+.  There will also be more episodes of the Disney+ Original series “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian“ and “It’s A Dog Life With Bill Farmer”.  Other new additions to the Disney+ library include many titles leaving Netflix.

Friday June 5th

Disney Gallery Episode 6 (Global) “Visualization”

Much like the original trilogy, The Mandalorian drew influences from both Western and Samurai films. We delve deeper into those influences and discuss how emulating those genres inspired the show.


Be Our Chef – Episode 111 – Finale (Global) – “The Spectacular Finale”

In The Spectacular Finale of “Be Our Chef” two of our families face-off in the final rematch! The families must draw inspiration from their favorite Disney film to create a spectacular treat that could be served in the Disney Parks. But they won’t be making just one – they will need to make 24! One family takes inspiration from “Beauty and the Beast” to create a colorful dessert. Another family creates a treat inspired by a suggestion from Genie in “Aladdin.” Mickey Mouse joins in the fun of the Garden Game to show the families how to flip pancakes. They’ll have to catch on quickly if they want to win the Magic Spoon and use the kitchen advantage. The Disney Cruise Line Vacation is on the line and these families will have to impress a lot of people to win the grand prize. They will be judged by some of Disney’s finest chefs – Chef Amanda, Chef Daniel, Chef Douglas, Chef Gregg, and Chef Jean-Marie. It all comes down to this. Who will be the very first winner of “Be Our Chef?”


It’s a Dog’s Life with Bill Farmer Episode 104 “Disaster Rescue Dogs & A Dog Mayor” (Global)

Bill meets dogs who rescue people in disasters. Then, he visits a dog who is the Mayor of his town


Disney Family Sundays Episode 131 – “101 Dalmatians: Onesie”

The Gubaney family and Amber take get to work on a “101 Dalmatians”-inspired project.”


Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Percy, who suffers from dyslexia and ADHD, discovers he is a demigod and is accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt. He must find the thief to settle the fight between the gods and save his mother.

 


One Day At Disney Episode 127 – “George Montano: Plasterer”

Disneyland Resort Plasterer George Montano provides a first-hand historical look into the construction of Disney Park’s top attractions. Having spent over 50 years at Disney, George continues his father’s legacy of creating and preserving a magical experience for Park guests of all ages


Disney Insider Episode 106 “Artemis Adventure, Taste of Disney, Runaway Railway”

“Artemis Fowl” author, Eoin Colfer, takes “Disney Insider” on a tour through the Irish countryside. Walt Disney World chefs open the doors to the Flavor Lab for a look at how they created Epcot’s Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue. Walt Disney Imagineers peel back the curtain on how they built Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.


Schoolhouse Rock (S1)

Schoolhouse Rock! is an American interstitial programming series of animated musical educational short films that aired during the Saturday morning children’s programming block on the U.S. television network ABC. The themes covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics.


Alaska’s Grizzly Gauntlet (S1)

Survivalist Les Stroud is dropped into extreme environments handpicked by local wilderness guides to see what Mother Nature does to survive.


America’s Greatest Animals

South Africa’s Big Five have finally got some heavyweight competition. The Elephant, Leopard, Lion, Rhinoceros, and Water Buffalo may meet its match in the jungles if the Americans have their way. A century ago, these iconic land animals of Africa were coined “The Big Five” by trophy hunters. They dominate the land with their intelligence, charisma, and courage. Truly Africa’s finest. But now it is time to find a new Big Five. North America wants to take a shot at the game and see if they can compete with Africa’s beasts. One site in particular, Animals Doing Things, boasts close to 2 million followers, and the content found there is celebrated in this series. Host Howie Mandel collates video submissions from all over the world into hourlong episodes, each narrated with his signature comedy, that showcase animals doing amazing, adorable and hilarious things. Get ready for some viral video catnip, including dancing puppies, wrestling kittens, musical monkeys and acrobatic lizards.


Secrets of Wild India (S1)

The filmmaker sets out on a quest to explore various iconic wildlife species that exist in India from the foothills of the Himalayas to the other areas densely populated with giant herbivores.

Artemis Fowl (Global)

Based on the best-selling young adult book by Eoin Colfer, “Artemis Fowl” delivers a big cinema-sized experience for audiences of all ages to experience for the first time on Disney+ in the comfort of their homes.  From director Kenneth Branagh, it is a fantastical epic adventure, resplendent with beautiful landscapes and spectacular visual effects that will transport viewers to magical new worlds.  “Artemis Fowl” stars newcomer Ferdia Shaw in the title role alongside Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel and Adrian Scarborough, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench.


Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Episode 107 – “Score”

We meet Ludwig Göransson inside his studio where he details how The Mandalorian’s musical themes were written. We then journey to the scoring stage to witness the live orchestra recording session.

Walt and El Grupo (US)

The year was 1941, and the world was on the brink of war. In an effort to improve relations between the Americas, the Roosevelt administration called upon one of Hollywood’s most influential filmmakers to embark on a special goodwill tour. Written and directed by Theodore Thomas (“Frank and Ollie”) and produced by Kuniko Okubo, the documentary WALT & EL GRUPO chronicles the amazing ten-week trip that Walt Disney and his hand-picked group of artists and filmmaking talent (later known as “El Grupo”) took to South America at the behest of the U.S. Government as part of the Good Neighbor Policy.


One Day At Disney Episode 128 – “Scot Drake: Imagineering Creative”

Scot Drake, Creative Executive of the Marvel Global Portfolio for Walt Disney Imagineering, helps create immersive Super Hero experiences in Disney parks and resorts around the world. Mighty Med (S1-2)

Teenage best friends Kaz and Oliver get the thrill of a lifetime when they land after-school jobs at Mighty Med, a secret hospital for superheroes as well as sci-fi and fantasy characters, where they discover that their favorite characters are not only real but living among them. As ordinary boys, known as “normos” at the hospital, Kaz and Oliver must learn how to make their way through the normal and the secret worlds they are now a part of. There to help them with that task are superhero Skylar Storm and Alan, the nephew of Mighty Med’s chief of staff. In the end they’ll have to use their friendship and superhero knowledge in order to become heroes themselves by saving the people who save people.


The Liberty Story

Walt Disney presents a combination live-action and animated drama of America’s historical fight for freedom. Includes a segment from Johnny Tremain, depicting the Boston Tea Party and the battle at Concord, and is followed by Ben and Me.

Into The Unknown: Making Frozen 2  (Global)

As never before in its near-century-long history, Walt Disney Animation Studios is opening its doors, allowing cameras to capture in intimate detail how the voice cast, directors, and team of artists come together to create Frozen 2. This multi-episode documentary series shows the hard work, imagination, heart, fun, and intensity that go into making one of the most highly anticipated Disney Animation features of all time.  All six episodes to be released.


Avengers: Infinity War (US/Canada)

One Day At Disney Episode 130 “Marc Smith: Story Artist”

Marc Smith, Director of Story, Frozen 2 at Walt Disney Animation Studios, shows how a drawing can become the key to a moving, emotional story. As he sketches characters, Smith emotionally engages with his work to create a bond between himself and the character. Marc blurs the line between fiction and reality, resulting in a lifelike portrayal on the screen.


Man In Space

Space scientists Willy Ley, Heinz Haber, and Wernher von Braun help explain some of the challenges of space exploration, including a discussion of some of the perceived problems of weightlessness. The history of rockets is shown in animation, beginning with 13th-century Chinese experiments. Von Braun unveils a four-stage, passenger-carrying rocket ship that could break free of the earth’s gravitational pull, leading to an animated depiction of man’s first trip into space. This was the first of several Disney shows on space exploration. President Eisenhower requested a print of this film to show the brass at the Pentagon, and it was evidently instrumental in helping to push them into the space program. The doughnut-shaped space station model has been on long-term loan to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Documentary).


Mars and Beyond

With the help of technical advisers Dr. Wernher von Braun, Dr. Ernst Stuhlinger, and Dr. E. C. Slipher. Walt presents a humorous look at what man might find on Mars, coupled with predictions for the exploration of the planet with an atomic-powered spaceship. Humankind’s place in the universe is explored, from early cavemen’s awareness of the stars through 20th-century writers and scientists who see Mars as a new frontier for future plans to solve the overpopulation and depletion of resources of Earth.


Raven’s Home (S3)

Single mother Raven Baxter panics when she notices that Booker, one of her children, starts showing psychic abilities.

    Great to see that one of thet big holes in the Marvel line-up is being filled with Avengers Infinity War. Add in the two Tarzan movies to get closer to all the Disney animated movies as well as pulling some stuff from the archives like Walt & El Grupo, Liberty Stories and more! And Schoolhouse Rocks is a great addition. Cannot wait until all the Schoolhouse Rocks is added. Great month with July looking like a great month as well!

    I would love to see Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea and Road to Avonlea on Disney+. I would also like to see Five Mile Creek added, as well as Annette, and the Adventures of Spin and Marty in which Annette Funicello is included. These additions would just make my experience the best.
