It’s the weekend and if you want some recommendations on what to watch on Disney+, here are my top 10 picks to keep you entertained.

10) Home Alone

Possibly one of the best Christmas movies ever made, this Fox classic should be on everyone’s watch lists for the holiday season.  It’s full of action, comedy and is one of my go to movies at this time of year, though the story of a kid being left home alone for the holidays is a bit of a stretch for kids to understand now, for us older fans, before mobile phones and the internet, we can just enjoy it like we did when we were younger.

9) One Day At Disney

This week saw a brand new series debut on Disney+, kicking off with a feature length episode.  One Day At Disney showcases some of the different cast members working throughout the company, including a animator, Imagineer, presenter, veterinarian and also Disney CEO Bob Iger.  If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work at Disney or who the people are behind the magic, this one is for you.

8) Hercules

If you are looking for a classic animated movie for the weekend, check out Hercules, who is bestowed with superhuman strength, a young mortal named Hercules sets out to prove himself a hero in the eyes of his father, the great god Zeus. Along with his friends Pegasus, a flying horse, and Phil, a personal trainer, Hercules is tricked by the hilarious, hotheaded villain Hades, who’s plotting to take over Mount Olympus!

7) Garfield

One of the new library additions this month is the 20th Century Fox movie, Garfield, who is the fat, lazy, lasagna lover, who has everything a cat could want. But when Jon, in an effort to impress the Liz – the vet and an old high-school crush – adopts a dog named Odie and brings him home, Garfield gets the one thing he doesn’t want. Competition.

6) Pixar In Real Life – Finding Dory

The hidden camera show returns this month with a new episode, featuring real people reacting to a famous Pixar scene.  This episode sees the scene involving Hank the Octopus escaping the aquarium in a child’s stroller.  This is a fun way of killing 5 minutes.

5) Expedition Amelia

If you’re after something a little more educational, this National Geographic documentary sees Explorer Robert Ballard set out to solve the mystery of Amelia Earhart’s disappearance as he and a team of experts travel to the remote Pacific atoll named Nikumaroro in search of her final resting place.

4) Thor Ragnarok

This weeks biggest addition was Marvel’s Thor Ragnarok, which left Netflix this week and is one of my personal favourite Marvel movies.  It’s unlike anything we’ve seen before within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Thor completely different than how we’ve seen him in his previous solo movies, a superb Loki and throw in a version of the incredible Planet Hulk/World War Hulk storyline and this should be on every Marvel fan’s watch list.

3) The Little Mermaid Live!

Last week saw the “The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live!” added to Disney and if you missed it on ABC earlier this month, its a good opportunity to catch up on this special show.  It honors the 30th anniversary of the beloved animated classic through a never-before-seen hybrid format that will take viewers on a magical adventure under the sea as live musical performances by a star-studded cast are interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film.

2) Star Wars: The Mandalorian

The fifth episode of the Mandalorian has just arrived, meaning we are over half way through the series and this weekend makes a good opportunity to completely catch up on the biggest series on Disney+ right now, especially if you’ve got no clue why the internet is full of Baby Yoda memes.

1) Coco

Last week saw Coco leave Netflix and come to Disney+, and it one of favourite movies from recent years, Coco tells the story of Miguel, who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, but his family have a ban on music.  Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.   With some beautiful songs and a unique story, this one is well worth checking out.
