Following the huge success of “WandaVision”, Variety is reporting that a spin-off series is in development for Disney+ and it will see Kathryn Hahn reprise her role as the evil witch Agatha Harkness.
The series is in early development and is being described as a dark comedy, though no plot details have yet been revealed.
“WandaVision” head writer Jac Schaeffer will also be returning as the writer and executive producer on the project. This will be one of the first projects under her new overall deal she has with Disney. She has previously worked on “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” and “Black Widow”.
“WandaVision,” is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) – two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives – begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. Agatha Harkness debuted in the Disney+ series, which took the world by storm and was the first Marvel Studios series for Disney+. A song from the series, “It Was Agatha All Long” even managed to top the music charts and win an Emmy.
Nothing has been officially announced regarding this project.
Marvel Studios currently has multiple series currently in development for Disney+, including “She-Hulk”, “Ironheart”, “Moon Knight” and “Secret Invasion” plus many more. With the success of the character in “WandaVision”, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Disney want to expand on the popular character.
The entire first season of “WandaVision” is available on Disney+ now.
