During last years Investor Day Event, Disney confirmed Pixar was working on a brand new animated series based on the popular franchise Cars.

This brand new animated series will follow Lightning McQueen and his best friend, Mater, on a cross-country road trip. These episodes are filled with lots of fun new characters, imaginative destinations as well as old friends checking in along the way.

Recently, The DisInsider, has reported that the new series will also be bringing in characters from the two Cars spinoff films “Planes” and “Planes: Fire And Rescue”, including Dusty Crophopper, Ned, Zed, Leadbotttom, and El Chupacabra will be appearing in the series.

The original voice actors, Dane Cook, Gabriel Iglesias, Cedric The Entertainer, and Carlos Alazraqui, will all reprise their roles from the films.

“Planes,” tells the story of Dusty, who is a crop-dusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race. The problem? He is hopelessly afraid of heights. With the support of his mentor Skipper and a host of new friends, Dusty sets off to make his dreams come true.

Many people aren’t aware that both “Planes” weren’t actually created by Pixar, as it was made by DisneyToon Studios. However, no further “Planes” films were cancelled when Disney has closed down the studios.

The series is written by Steve Purcell and produced by Marc Sondheimer.

Both “Planes” and “Planes: Fire & Rescue”, along with all three “Cars” films, are all available to watch on Disney+ now.

This new Cars series is due to arrive on Disney+ in Fall 2022.

Would you like to see “Planes” characters in the new “Cars” Disney+ series?
