It’s that spooky time of year again as we close in on Halloween. Disney has made numerous movies, specials and tv episodes over the years that focus primarily on Halloween. For this list, I’m ranking my Top 25 movies to watch this Halloween on Disney+. You’ll see ghosts and goblins, witches and werewolves. This will include theatrical movie releases and made for tv movies, but won’t include specials or tv episodes.

25. SPOOKY BUDDIES

One of the many spin-offs of the Air Bud franchise, “Spooky Buddies” takes a look at the gang of pups as they go on an adventure through a haunted mansion.

24. HAUNTED MANSION

Eddie Murphy stars in this film based on the iconic ride at the Disney theme parks, but it doesn’t have the charm of the ride. It may not be Eddie Murphy’s worst movie, but it’s not far from the bottom.

23. GIRL VS MONSTER

One of the newer Disney Channel Original Movies, this 2012 film follows a teen girl who goes on a mission to recapture a dangerous monster that she accidentally released before it can do harm to her parents. It’s a cute film, but remember, like all other Disney Channel Original Movies, it’s filled with a lot of cheese.

22. INVISIBLE SISTER

This Disney Channel Original Movie take a uniquely Disney Channel look at a girl’s jealousy of her more popular sister. A girl’s science project goes wrong and leads to her older sister becoming invisible.

21. TWITCHES TOO

DCOMs were heavily focused on the supernatural, apparently. In this sequel, Tia and Tamara Mowry returns as the Twitches who are leading normal lives until they discover their biological father is hiding in New York.

20. TWITCHES

The original is definitely better than the sequel. The Mowry sisters star as witches who were separated at birth, adopted by two different families and meet on their 21st birthday. They must use their powers to save the world in which they were born.

19. BRIDE OF BOOGEDY

From “The Magical World of Disney” it’s the sequel to “Mr. Boogedy.” He returns to torment the children who defeated him in the first movie and to search for a new wife to join him in the afterlife.

18. MR. BOOGEDY

The original from “The Magical World of Disney,” a family movies into a new home haunted by Mr. Boogedy. They must band together to defeat him.

17. RETURN TO HALLOWEENTOWN

The fourth in the Halloweentown franchise of Disney Channel Original Movies, it’s also the weakest. The kids from the franchise have graduated high school and are headed to college in Halloweentown.

16. THE SCREAM TEAM

In this Disney Channel Original Movie, the grandson of a Halloween shop owner returns to his hometown to help settle an inheritance only to find out his grandfather’s house is haunted by a man who was burned at the stake.

15. NOW YOU SEE IT

Capitalizing on the popularity of reality tv shows in the mid-2000s, this Disney Channel Original Movie follows a teen who is competing on a magician-based reality show. In between competitions, the teen tries to learn the secrets of the mansion they are staying in.

14. HALLOWEENTOWN HIGH

It’s the third film in Disney Channel’s Halloweentown franchise. In this film, the kids from Halloweentown are allowed to attend high school in the mortal realm. And, one family’s magic is at stake.

13. PHANTOM OF THE MEGAPLEX

It’s the Disney Channel Original Movie take on “Phantom of the Opera.” A cinema worker finds the films being shown are full of strange and eerie occurrences, threatening a special premiere set to take place later that night.

12. MOM’S GOT A DATE WITH A VAMPIRE.

This film is “The Nanny” meets “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” as Charles Shaughnessy and Caroline Rhea star in this Disney Channel Original Movie. Rhea is a single mother who has started dating Shaughnessy, but he happens to be a vampire.

11. HALLOWEENTOWN 2

The first sequel to the very popular “Halloweentown” film, the son of the original villain is trying to blend Halloweentown with the mortal realm and unleash monsters into the real world.

10. DON’T LOOK UNDER THE BED

A prank-playing Boogeyman is framing a teen for his dastardly deeds. So, the teen turns to an imaginary friend for help.

9. Z-O-M-B-I-E-S

Yet another Disney Channel Original Movies focusing on the supernatural, Students from Zombietown are transferred to a high school in a suburban town preoccupied with uniformity, traditions and pep rallies.

8. SMART HOUSE

This is not necessarily a Halloween movie, but it does deal with how scary technology can be. A family wins a “Smart House” that does everything for them. But, the house’s artificial intelligence tries to step in as the new mother and turns the house into a literal Haunted Mansion.

7. ESCAPE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN

A brother-sister duo possessing psychic powers are pursued by a millionaire who intends to use them for his gain. This is one of several versions of this film. This one was made specifically for the Disney Channel.

6. THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD

It’s the last of the package films Disney put together in the 1940s, following the financial devastation of World War II. The two shorts feature animated versions of “The Wind in the Willows” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

5. JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH

An orphan comes into possession of magic crocodile tongues that lead to the growth of an enormous peach. From there, he meets several anthropomorphic bugs who help him escape his aunts and start over in New York.

4. FRANKENWEENIE

One of the creepiest films to come from Tim Burton, “Frankenweenie” follows a boy whose beloved dog passes away and he attempts to bring the dog back to life through a science experiment.

3. HALLOWEENTOWN

The first film in the franchise is also the best. A young girl, whose mother’s family is from the mystical Halloweentown, must learn the ways of magic or lose her powers by the end of Halloween night.

2. THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

One of the most iconic Halloween films is a cult classic. Jack Skellington is leading Halloweentown, but learns about Christmastown and tries to adopt their traditions as his own. This classic film features one of the most iconic songs of all time with Danny Elfman performing “This is Halloween.”

1. HOCUS POCUS

What do you get when you mix 300 year old witches, Salem, Massachusetts and Halloween? My pick for the best Halloween movie on Disney+. The film follows three kids who free the evil Sanderson sisters and must survive the night and stop the witches from gaining enough children to survive.
