The Walt Disney Company owns several studios that produce films both theatrically and straight to video, DVD or digital download depending on when the film was released. While most people think of the Walt Disney Animation Studios or Pixar, there’s also the Disneytoon Studios. It’s most known for releasing the sequels to the Walt Disney Animation Studios classics that went straight to video in the 1990s. But, the studio released 12 films into theaters. Here’s my ranking of those 12 films.

12. THE PIRATE FAIRY

When a misunderstood dust-keeper fairy named Zarina steals Pixie Hollow’s all-important Blue Pixie Dust, and flies away to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock, Tinker Bell and her fairy friends must embark on the adventure of a lifetime to return it to its rightful place.

11. SECRET OF THE WINGS

Tinkerbell wanders into the forbidden Winter woods and meets Periwinkle. Together they learn the secret of their wings and try to unite the warm fairies and the winter fairies to help Pixie Hollow.

10. POOH’S HEFFALUMP MOVIE

Roo joins them and they all agree that Heffalumps are nearby after finding a huge footprint. They decide to set out on an expedition to catch the Heffalump. Roo is not allowed to come along because he is too little.

9. TINKER BELL AND THE LEGEND OF THE NEVERBEAST

Fun and talented animal fairy Fawn believes you can’t judge a book by its cover, or an animal by its fangs, so she befriends a huge and mysterious creature known as the NeverBeast. While Tinkerbell and her friends aren’t so sure about this scary addition to Pixie Hollow, the elite Scout Fairies set out to capture the monster before he destroys their home.

8. PETER PAN 2: RETURN TO NEVERLAND

In London during World War II, this is the story of Wendy’s daughter, Jane, who is kidnapped by Captain Hook and Peter Pan must come to the rescue.

7. PIGLET’S BIG MOVIE

When the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood begin a honey harvest, young Piglet is excluded and told that he is too small to help. Feeling inferior, Piglet disappears and his pals Eeyore, Rabbit, Tigger, Roo, and Winnie the Pooh must use Piglet’s scrapbook as a map to find him.

6. PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE

When world-famous air racer Dusty learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his team, a bunch of all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire, and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

5. THE JUNGLE BOOK 2

Jungle boy Mowgli decides to forsake civilized village life for the “bare necessities” of the wild with his old friends. However, the evil tiger Shere Khan is looking for a little payback after Mowgli’s last adventure.

4. DUCKTALES THE MOVIE: TREASURE OF THE LOST LAMP

Scrooge McDuck, his dimwitted pilot Launch Pad, and his newphews Huey, Dewey and Louie, with Webby, arrive in Egypt where Scrooge finds the lost treasure of Collie Baba, unbeknownst to Scrooge, a magic lamp was included inside the treasure, so while the nephews have fun with the genie, they all have no idea that they’re being stalked by a power hungry sorceror named Murlock and his dimwitted thief counterpart, Dijon.

3. PLANES

Dusty Crophopper is a little cropduster plane with a fear of heights and a crazy dream of being a racer. While his friends need convincing, Dusty gets the training he needs from Skipper, a veteran fighter, and qualifies for the Wings Across the World race.

2. THE TIGGER MOVIE

Tigger goes looking through the hundred-acre-wood to find his family.

1. A GOOFY MOVIE

When Max makes a preposterous promise to a girl he has a crush on, his chances to fulfilling it seem hopeless when he is dragged onto a cross-country trip with his embarrassing father, Goofy.

That’s my ranking. It’s an interesting studio with some genuinely good movies and some questionable ones. I can see why these are the only 12 films they’ve released in theaters, but many of them have been fun to watch. What do you think? Which of these are the best and which of these are the worst?
