Another big comedy series is set to leave Netflix in the United States soon, as 20th Television’s “New Girl” is going to be leaving the streaming service on April 10th 2023. And according to Deadline, all seven seasons will be going to Disney’s Hulu and Comcast’s Peacock streaming services a week later on April 17th 2023.

“New Girl” follows Jessica Day, who is an offbeat and adorable girl in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys. Goofy, positive, vulnerable and honest to a fault, Jess has faith in people, even when she shouldn’t. Although she’s dorky and awkward, she’s comfortable in her own skin. More prone to friendships with women, she’s not used to hanging with the boys—especially at home.

The shared streaming rights follow a similar deal that Disney did with Peacock for “Modern Family” and with HBO for “Abbott Elementary”, where it gets the benefits of having shows available on its own platform, while also getting an income from another source.

“New Girl” stars Zooey Deschanel as Jess Day; Jake Johnson as Nick Miller; Max Greenfield as Schmidt; Lamorne Morris as Winston Bishop; and Hannah Simone as Cece Schmidt.

The series was created by Elizabeth Meriwether, who executive produced along with Brett Baer, Dave Finkel, Jake Kasdan, Erin O’Malley, Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope.

This removal will mean Netflix will only have a handful of titles from 20th Television left on the platform.

“New Girl” has already been removed from Netflix in many countries around the world, including the UK and Canada, where it is available to stream on Disney+.
