The holiday season is upon us, and as we count down to Christmas, Disney has a huge collection of holiday-themed movies available on Disney+.    So if you’re looking for something “Christmas” themed to watch on Disney+, check out these great movies on Disney+

The Muppets Christmas Carol

The Muppet’s rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic tale puts a unique twist on a favourite holiday story. With all the fantastic Muppet characters involved and one of the most popular Christmas stories of all time, this list wouldn’t have been right without some Muppets included.

Home Alone

One of my all-time favourite Christmas movies, this classic 20th Century Fox movie has everything I’d want from a Christmas film. It has mischief and mayhem as an eight-year-old Kevin McCallister makes the most of the situation after his family unwittingly leaves him behind when they go on Christmas vacation. But when a pair of bungling burglars set their sights on Kevin’s house, the plucky kid stands ready to defend his territory. By planting booby traps galore, adorably mischievous Kevin stands his ground as his frantic mother attempts to race home before Christmas Day.

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas

This animated classic features Mickey, Minnie and their famous friends for hilarious and heartwarming stories of their most memorable Christmases together. You get to experience a merry collection of adventures and magical Christmas songs celebrating the true joys of the holiday season.  You can also catch Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas on Disney+ as well.

Iron Man 3

I know some of you might be thinking, Iron Man 3 isn’t very Christmasy, but the events of the movie take place on Christmas Eve and I personally like adding something a little less fluffy to my festive viewing to mix things up. The story sees Tony Stark’s world torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.

The Christmas Carol

Ebenezer Scrooge, a spiteful and miserly man, encounters three spirits on Christmas Eve, who show him the folly of his ways and prompt him to become a better man.  This is my personal favourite version of this classic tale.

Miracle On 34th Street

This classic 20th Century Fox movie from the 1940s is a perfect old fashioned Christmas movie, which has remade on several occasions. Kris Kringle, seemingly the embodiment of Santa Claus, is asked to portray the jolly old fellow at Macy’s following his performance in the Thanksgiving Day parade. His portrayal is so complete that many begin to question if he truly is Santa Claus, while others question his sanity.

Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas

One of the great things about Disney+ is the huge back catalogue of movies, that you might not instantly think of. This was originally released straight to video in the ’90s, so you might not have seen it. Belle prepares the castle for Christmas against Beast’s wishes, trying to bring him happiness for the season…

Nightmare Before Christmas

Tired of scaring humans every October 31 with the same old bag of tricks, Jack Skellington, the spindly king of Halloween Town, kidnaps Santa Claus and plans to deliver shrunken heads and other ghoulish gifts to children on Christmas morning. But as Christmas approaches, Jack’s rag-doll girlfriend, Sally, tries to foil his misguided plans. Perfect holiday viewing if you skipped it at Halloween or just want a second excuse to watch this excellent Tim Burton movie.

The Santa Clause

One of my all-time favourite Christmas movies sees Tim Allen play Scott Calvin who is just an ordinary man, who accidentally causes Santa Claus to fall from his roof on Christmas Eve and is knocked unconscious. When he and his young son finish Santa’s trip and deliveries, they go to the North Pole, where Scott learns he must become the new Santa and convince those he loves that he is indeed, Father Christmas. There are 2 other sequels to check out on Disney+ if you enjoy this one, plus a brand new limited series.

Noelle

With this being a Disney+ Original and the only place to see this, it is only right that it sits at the top of the list. Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun, but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick, who will take over for their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he take a break and get away…but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.

Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups

I know this might not be the greatest movie ever made, but its Christmas and its got lots of puppies in it. They look adorable and they are cute, plus I have just recently got a new puppy, so I’m in the mood for as much puppy content as I can get.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

On Christmas Eve, Clara realises that before dying, her mother left her with an inheritance to a magical world of fairies and toy soldiers that are alive. She holds the key to the fate of this world.   This is an underrated movie and one I really enjoyed.

Godmothered

This brand new Disney+ Original is set at Christmas time and is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell), who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “happily ever after,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not.

Home Alone 2

Kevin accidentally boards a flight to New York City and gets separated from his family who are on their way to Miami. He then bumps into two of his old enemies, who plan to rob a toy store.  With the movie heading to New York, it’s changed the setting enough to make the same story different enough to enjoy again!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

During the World War II bombings of London, four English siblings are sent to a country house where they will be safe. One day Lucy (Georgie Henley) finds a wardrobe that transports her to a magical world called Narnia. After coming back, she soon returns to Narnia with her brothers, Peter (William Moseley) and Edmund (Skandar Keynes), and her sister, Susan (Anna Popplewell). There they join the magical lion, Aslan (Liam Neeson), in the fight against the evil White Witch, Jadis (Tilda Swinton).  With Father Christmas also helping out the four children along the way.

Die Hard

Facing Christmas 3,000 miles from his estranged wife and two children, New York policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) flies to Los Angeles bearing presents and hoping to patch up his marriage. Stylish and cool Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) is in Los Angeles as well for the holiday season, but he’s not there to give out presents. He’s there to take: more than $600 million in negotiable bearer bonds from the multinational Nakatomi Corporation, where McClane’s wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) is an executive. When the takeover becomes hostile, it’s up to John McClane to take on the terrorists with all the grit and determination he can muster–but not without a sense of humor.   This is one of my favourite Christmas movies to watch each year, as its a little refreshing watching something a little more grown up on Disney+.

Note: Die Hard is not available on Disney+ in the United States or Latin America
