Here’s the most popular series on Disney+ in June 2021:
1) Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
The story follows Mickey and Donald as they embark on a trip through a fairytale wonderland in search of Daisy’s cuckoo bird, with their journey bringing them face to face with such figures as Goofy Hatter, Queen Clarabelle, and Tweedle Chip and Tweedle Dale. This title is one of the most popular series on Disney+ due to the repeat viewing of younger audiences.
Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new Disney+ series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. This was the biggest new release of June and the premiere in mid-June was the most viewed show so far on Disney+.
3) Star Wars: The Bad Batch
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. With new episodes dropping every Friday throughout July, expect this show to be popular for a while to come.
4) The Simpsons
This classic animated sitcom is one of the most popular series on Disney+. It’s set in Springfield, the average American town, the show focuses on the antics and everyday adventures of the Simpson family; Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, as well as a virtual cast of thousands. Since the beginning, the series has been a pop culture icon, attracting hundreds of celebrities to guest star. The show has also made name for itself in its fearless satirical take on politics, media and American life in general. There are 31 seasons of this show, with almost 700 episodes, making it the perfect binge show to watch on Disney+.
Bluey follows the adventures of a lovable and inexhaustible six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy who lives with her dad, mum and four-year-old little sister, Bingo. In every episode, Bluey uses her limitless Blue Heeler energy to play elaborate games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways. Much like “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse”, this show is watched repeatably by younger audiences.
6) High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
In season two of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” the East High Wildcats, who are preparing to perform “Beauty and the Beast” as their spring musical, face off against rival school North High to win a prestigious and cutthroat student theater competition. Wigs are snatched, loyalties are tested, and ballads are belted.
“Jessie” is your typical fish-out-of-water story. Jessie is a small-town teen who leaves her Texas roots to take a job as a nanny for the Ross family’s four precocious kids in New York. Heading the family are the parents: supermodel-turned-business mogul Christina and movie director Morgan. The oldest of the four children, teenager Emma, is the only biological child of the bunch. Her three brothers and sisters are all adopted — American adoptee Luke, Indian adoptee Ravi and African adoptee Zuri. While watching four kids can be challenging for a teenager, Jessie has help in the form of the family’s butler, Bertram, and the building’s 20-year-old doorman, Tony. Adding to Jessie’s challenging task is the family’s pet, a 7-foot Asian water monitor lizard. Jessie is one of the most popular Disney Channel shows on Disney+.
8) Star Wars: The Clone Wars
With ambitious, groundbreaking computer animation from Lucasfilm Animation, classic characters, astounding action, and the timeless battle between good and evil, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” expands the Star Wars story with all new adventures set in a galaxy far, far away.
9) The Falcon And The Winter Soldier
Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of “Avengers: Endgame,” team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience. Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the series also stars Daniel Brühl as Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker. This is the second Marvel Studios series to be released on Disney+ and has been a huge hit for the streaming service.
1o) Big Shot
After getting ousted from the NCAA, a men’s basketball coach is given a chance for redemption with a coaching position at an elite private high school. He soon learns that the teenage players require empathy and vulnerability — foreign concepts for the stoic Coach Korn (John Stamos). By learning how to connect with his players, Marvyn starts to grow into the person he’s always hoped to be. The girls learn to take themselves more seriously, finding their footing both on and off the court. This series is certainly a highlight of the Disney+ Originals available and it’s great to see people were checking it out in June.
