Each month, we take a look at what are the most popular movie globally on Disney+, which is tracked daily on the trending list and takes into consideration how popular a show is and how long it been popular on Disney+.

Many of the biggest Disney franchises continue to pull in an audience, especially as younger viewers tend to watch their favourite films over and over.

Here are the most popular films on Disney+ in June 2021:

1) Raya And The Last Dragon

Raya, a warrior, sets out to track down Sisu, a dragon, who transferred all her powers into a magical gem that is now scattered all over the kingdom of Kumandra, dividing its people. This film had previously been available on Disney+ Premier Access, but was made available to all subscribers in early June, which is why it has scored higher in the chart, since the longer films are in the trending list, the higher they appear in this chart.

2) Moana

Easily one of my favourite modern animated movies and sees Moana answer the call of the ocean, taking to the seas to save her people from a terrible curse. The movie features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Demigod Maui and his character really adds some great comedy moments. Moana delivers an awesome soundtrack including “Your Welcome” and “How Far I’ll Go”. This movie rarely has left the top of the trending charts, showing how popular this film is with kids who must be watching this one on repeat a fair few times a week!

3) Frozen 2

Elsa the Snow Queen has an extraordinary gift — the power to create ice and snow. But no matter how happy she is to be surrounded by the people of Arendelle, Elsa finds herself strangely unsettled. After hearing a mysterious voice call out to her, Elsa travels to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond her kingdom — an adventure that soon turns into a journey of self-discovery.

4) Frozen

This movie was a juggernaut for Disney in the past decade, from the box office, merchandise, music and even on Broadway. When their kingdom becomes trapped in perpetual winter, fearless Anna (Kristen Bell) joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer sidekick to find Anna’s sister, Snow Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel), and break her icy spell. Although their epic journey leads them to encounters with mystical trolls, a comedic snowman (Josh Gad), harsh conditions, and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff bravely push onward in a race to save their kingdom from winter’s cold grip.

5) Luca

Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original animated feature is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface. This brand new animated film debuted on Disney+ in June and will no doubt be a popular film for a while on streaming service.

6) Us Again

This animated short was released on Disney+ at the beginning of June, having been previously released exclusively in cinemas along with “Raya and the Last Dragon” in March. This fantastic short tells the story of a couple who rekindle their passion for life and each other on one magical night.

7) Zootopia

When Judy Hopps, a rookie officer in the Zootopia Police Department, sniffs out a sinister plot, she enlists the help of a con artist to solve the case in order to prove her abilities to Chief Bogo. This film has been so successful Disney, it’s spawning its own Disney+ spin-off series and a new themed area is being built at Shanghai Disney Resort.

8) Tangled

Rapunzel, a naive and young girl, is locked up by her overly protective mother. Her wish to escape into the world outside finally comes true when she meets the good-hearted thief, Flynn.

9) Coco

Miguel pursues his love for singing in spite of his family’s ban on music. He stumbles into the Land of the Dead, where he learns about his great-great-grandfather who was a legendary singer.

10) Ice Age: Dawn Of the Dinosaurs

Manny and Ellie are expecting their first child, while Diego plans to move out. Meanwhile, Sid invites trouble by stealing some dinosaur eggs, causing the others to come and save him. This Blue Sky Studio animated film was added to Disney+ in the US in June, giving it a boost into the top 10.
