Each month, we take a look at what are the most popular movie globally on Disney+, which is tracked daily on the trending list and takes into consideration how popular a show is and how long it has been popular on Disney+. So titles released earlier in the month generally are higher in the chart.

The two original “Home Alone” films continue to be huge draws for viewers on Disney+, showing why Disney did invest in a modern remake, as the data shows them how popular this franchise is.

“Encanto” sneaked onto the bottom of the top 10 chart and will no doubt keep rising through the chart in the months to come. Other new releases from December, including “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” and “Ron’s Gone Wrong” also debuted onto the chart.

Here are the most popular films around the world on Disney+ in December 2021:

1) Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings

This brand new Marvel film was added onto Disney+ on Disney+ Day and it stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must face the past he thought he left behind and confront his father, leader of the dangerous Ten Rings organization.

2) Home Alone

Eight-year-old Kevin is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for France. At first, he is happy to be in charge, but when thieves try to break into his home, he tries to put up a fight.

3) Avengers: Endgame

After Thanos, an intergalactic warlord, disintegrates half of the universe, the Avengers must reunite and assemble again to reinvigorate their trounced allies and restore balance.

4) Moana

Easily one of my favourite modern animated movies and sees Moana answer the call of the ocean, taking to the seas to save her people from a terrible curse. The movie features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Demigod Maui and his character really adds some great comedy moments. Moana delivers an awesome soundtrack including “Your Welcome” and “How Far I’ll Go”. This movie rarely has left the top of the trending charts, showing how popular this film is with kids who must be watching this one on repeat a fair few times a week!

5) Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

This all-new animated Disney+ Original film tells the story of Greg Heffley, who dreams of becoming famous while surviving middle school with his best friend, Rowley.

6) Home Alone 2: Lost In New York

Kevin accidentally boards a flight to New York City and gets separated from his family who are on their way to Miami. He then bumps into two of his old enemies, who plan to rob a toy store.

7) Jungle Cruise

Join fan favourites Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt for the adventure of a lifetime on Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’, a rollicking thrill ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Lily travels from London to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila, his ramshackle but charming boat. Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities, and the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust together on this epic quest, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank, and their fate – along with mankind’s – hangs in the balance.

8) Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

9) Ron’s Gone Wrong

Barney is a socially awkward schoolboy who receives a robot named Ron — a walking, talking, digitally connected device that’s supposed to be his best friend. Barney is excited to finally have his own robot — until his new toy starts to hilariously malfunction, drawing the attention of a shady executive who wants to protect his company’s stock price at all costs.

10) Encanto

The Madrigals are an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift — every child except Mirabel. However, she soon may be the Madrigals last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger.
