For the month of October, Disney+ has added a Halloween collection. It features some of the best movies, specials and Halloween-themed episodes of TV series to enjoy during the spooky season. I’ve already presented my Top 25 movies to watch during Halloween on Disney+. In this article I’m ranking the Top 10 Halloween specials. These could be an episode of a TV series or a short Disney produced or has since acquired the streaming rights.

10. Disney Jr. Halloween Episodes

These series are meant to keep younger kids entertained. There’s very little in these shows for older kids, teens or adults. But, for the little ones, they are a lot of fun. There are 24 of these episodes currently in the Halloween collection spanning several of the hit shows from the Walt Disney company. You can check out spooktacular episodes of “Doc McStuffins,” “Puppy Dog Pals” or “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” among others.

9. DISNEY CHANNEL HALLOWEEN EPISODES

These episodes from TV shows on the main version of the Disney Channel are a little more grown up than the Disney Jr. shows. They are still family friendly, but will carry less appeal with teens and adults than some other specials on this list. They features episodes from “Phineas & Ferb,” “Jessie” and many others.

8. VAMPIRINA: GHOUL GIRLS ROCK

This series of shorts features three main girls from the Disney Jr. show “Vampirina” forming a band call “Ghoul Girls Rock.” It’s a cute short that is a lot of fun for the kids and, at around 4 minutes a piece, isn’t too bad for parents to sit through.

7. CAPTAIN SPARKY VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS

This two minute short features Victor and Sparky from “Frankenweenie” watching one of their favorite home movies together. It’s not spectacular, but is a fine way to pass two minutes.

6. FRANKENWEENIE

This short predates the Tim Burton film of the same name by nearly three decades. This one is 26 minutes long but tells the story of Victor and Sparky and how Sparky was brought back to life. It’s not quite as good as the Tim Burton film, but I bet it’s got its fans that will really enjoy it.

5. THE LEGEND OF MOR’DU

This short from Disney and Pixar is narrated by the eccentric witch from “Brave” as she tells the story of a power-hungry prince who is trying to usurp the kingdom’s throne. It’s an enjoyable 8 minutes, but “Brave” is one of the lesser appealing Pixar movies to me.

4. MATER AND THE GHOSTLIGHT

One of the more fun Pixar shorts featuring Mater from the “Cars” franchise, this short follows Mater as he’s haunted by a mysterious blue light that teaches him not to play pranks on the other cars in Radiator Springs. Mater as the star of a Pixar production works a lot better in shorts than it did in “Cars 2.”

3. LONESOME GHOSTS

This short takes the viewer back to the 1930s. Mickey, Donald and Goofy star as “Ghost Exterminators” who are called to a home by some lonely and bored ghosts. Hijinks ensue as the trio is scared by the haunts and pranks from the ghosts. It’s one of the first Halloween-related productions from Disney and one of the best.

2. TRICK OR TREAT

This 1952 short focuses on Donald Duck being cruel to his nephews on Halloween. When a witch overhears Donald’s behavior, she makes it her mission to help the younger ducks and teach Donald a lesson while getting candy.

1. THE SIMPSONS: TREEHOUSE OF HORROR

One of the funniest Halloween productions every year is the work “The Simpsons” creators put in on the “Treehouse of Horror” episodes. Long after “The Simpsons” lost its luster of being constantly funny, the “Treehouse of Horror” always delivered. It’s some of the most fun you’ll have watching Halloween episodes of any TV show.

That’s my ranking of the shorts and specials currently available on Disney+. What do you think? Which ones are your favorites? And, what would you like to see added?
