Following on from the success of “Pirates Of The Caribbean”, “Jungle Cruise”, and “The Haunted Mansion”, Disney is once again looking to adapt another one of its infamous theme park attractions into a new feature film.

The attraction sees guests blast off on a rip-roaring rocket into the furthest reaches of outer space on a roller-coaster ride in the dark. Variations of Space Mountain are available at the theme parks in Anaheim, Orlando, Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

According to THR, Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec have been brought aboard the project to write the movie. They have previously worked together on “Zoo” and “Wonder Park.” They have also worked as the showrunners on the Netflix series Cowboy Bebop.

Rideback’s Jonathan Eirich will produce the upcoming movie alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin will also executive produce.  Joby Harold had previously worked on a script for the movie.

No plot details have been revealed about the upcoming film or when it might be likely to be released.   Unlike other attractions which have been turned into movies, Space Mountain doesn’t have a storyline or character, so the movie story could go anywhere.

This won’t be the first time Space Mountain has appeared on the screen, as the attraction was featured in the George Clooney movie, “Tomorrowland”, which is the themed area where Space Mountain can be found within the Magic Kingdom, and also in the Disney animated movie, “Meet the Robinsons”.

“Space Mountain” also has a connection with Star Wars, as the attraction occasionally turns into Hyperspace Mountain with a Star Wars overlay.
