Disney looks set to bring “National Treasure” back for a third outing as according to the Hollywood Reporter, “Bad Boys For Life” writer Chris Bremmer is currently writing “National Treasure 3”.

The third movie in the franchise will also see Jerry Bruckheimer return as a producer, who also produced “Bad Boys For Life”

Very little is known about the new movie yet, such as if any of the original cast such as Nicholas Cage, will be returning for the film or if it will be released in cinemas like the previous two, or if it will be a Disney+ Original.  Both movies had success at the box office, pulling in over $800 million globally between the two movies.

This project has been in the works for years, with the director Jon Turteltaub saying back in 2018 that the script was close, but Disney wasn’t sold on the idea.  Now it looks like work is underway once again on bringing back the treasure hunters.

Both movies are available on Disney+ right now in most countries, though US subscribers won’t get the first movie on Disney+ until it leaves Netflix on April 30th 2020.
