Mickey and friends are having the perfect day together and decided to end it with a barbecue in the latest episode of “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” entitled “Supermarket Scramble.” After spending a nice day together; Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy decide to head to the supermarket to get supplies for a barbecue. But, once they arrive, the store is packed and they must split up to get those supplies leading to Mickey acting like the store manager, Minnie and Donald surrounded by hoards of angry customers and Goofy stuck in a lobster tank while Daisy waits outside blocking traffic into the parking lot.

I’ve talked about how much I love this series and this is one of the funniest episodes to date. Mickey being a people pleaser, Donald zapping people with static electricity and Minnie fighting everyone over the last strand of hot dogs are some of the funniest moments of the entire series. But, the loudest I laughed while watching this episode is when the police officer approached Daisy and told her she couldn’t park in front of the store. She rolled up her window, even though she was in a convertible with the top down, and pretended like she couldn’t hear the officer. It’s silly. It’s predictable. But, it got me to burst out laughing even though you could see it coming a mile away.

I’ve complained about Goofy’s animation in the past, and while I’m still not thrilled with it, I loved his part in this short. Goofy ending up in the lobster tank and getting left behind by his friends is classic Goofy. It’s everything I’ve always loved about the character. I may not like how he’s drawn, but Bill Farmer still plays him expertly, and the creators write him into typical Goofy scenarios. I still love the character, overall.

I can’t wait to watch more episodes of this series. I’m really enjoying it and I’m hopeful we get a lot more shorts featuring Mickey and friends.
