Mickey Mouse is so full of love he wants to give his heart to Minnie Mouse, but when she misses the heart and it lands on many inanimate objects, those things come to life and fall in love with Mickey in the latest short from “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” titled “I Heart Mickey.” While Mickey is oblivious to everything that’s going on and is easily distracted, once he learns that his heart didn’t make it to Minnie, he steps up and proves his love by helping her recover his heart even after it was sliced into a million pieces by Goofy’s plane.

This is one of the better shorts to focus primarily on Mickey and Minnie. It was hysterical to watch all of these items fall in love with Mickey and do whatever they can to be with him. Meanwhile, he’s constantly distracted by a barbershop quartet, a massage chair, and a barbershop quartet offering massages; that’s quite the combination. Many times we see Mickey have to go through the trials while trying to help Minnie. But, this short, much like the birdwatching short, shows Minnie having to fight for Mickey. It’s great to see and adds to the quality of the shorts.

While Goofy flying a plane makes no sense in the context of the story, it works perfectly because Goofy makes no sense. His character is meant to live up to his name and he certainly does that here. Goofy was one of my favorite parts of this short and part of me would’ve liked to see more of him even if it wouldn’t have made any more sense than the amount he already appeared. Also, seeing Goofy in the plane helped me get past some of my dislike of the way he’s animated.

While this isn’t the best in this series of shorts, it was a good one. I really enjoyed myself for the entire nine minutes the short ran. I hope many more of the shorts that are created are at least on par with this one if not better. And, I hope Daisy and Clarabelle return to these shorts soon.
