At the start of the month, Disney often has to remove a small number of films from Disney+ in the United States due to previous contracts made from before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox.
This month has been pretty bad for removals, with many other 20th Century Studios films removed including “Rio“, “Fantastic Four” and also, once again, “The Sandlot”.
“The Sandlot” has been jumping on and off Disney+ in the US due to multiple contracts, it was removed in early 2000, before returning in early July 2021. The film has only been available on Disney+ in the US for five months. Unlike other streaming services, Disney+ doesn’t announce any titles that are leaving the service.”The Sandlot” is still available on Disney+ in other countries.
It’s unclear how long the film will be available on other platforms, before it eventually returns to Disney+ in the United States.
“The Sandlot” tells the story of what happens when fifth-grader Scotty Smalls moves with his parents to a new town, he strikes out with the neighbourhood kids, especially at baseball. But soon, Scotty embarks on a magical summer of first kisses, hilarious adventures and encounters with the scary “beast” behind the left-field fence. Co-starring Karen Allen, Denis Leary and James Earl Jones, The Sandlot is major-league fun for the whole family!
