National Geographic has released a trailer for its new drama series, The Right Stuff, which tells the story of the US’s drive to be the first in space and the adrenaline-fueled test pilots who would find instant fame by becoming NASA’s Original Mercury 7.

The series is based on Tom Wolfe’s iconic best-selling nonfiction book and production will begin this fall in Cocoa Beach.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are executive producers, along with Mark Lafferty (“Castle Rock,” “Halt and Catch Fire”), who has signed on as showrunner. David Nutter (“Game of Thrones,” “Band of Brothers”) is set to direct and executive produce the series’ premiere episode. Will Staples (“Animals,” “Shooter”) is also an executive producer. Michael Hampton shepherded this project on behalf of Appian Way.

The Right Stuff is coming to National Geographic Channel in 2020 and since its one of the core 5 brands of Disney+, it is highly probably the series will also be available on the new streaming platform as well.
