Lucasfilm is currently creating a brand new “Willow” sequel series for Disney+, which takes place years after the events of the original “Willow” film.

Originally, the series was going to be directed by Jon M. Chu. However, due to delays in filming and having a baby later this year, with Jonathan Entwistle stepping in to direct the episodes.  However, according to Deadline, Jonathan Entwistle, has also had to step away from directing the series in April due to scheduling conflicts with his Apple TV+ series “Hello Tomorrow”.

This has resulted in the producer, Stephen Woolfenden, stepping in to direct the first two episodes.  He has previously directed episodes of “Outlander”, “Poldark” and “Doctor Who”.

Production wasn’t delayed on the filming of “Willow” and is still due to be released on Disney+ next year.

This new series introduces all-new characters to the enchanted realm of fairy queens and two-headed Eborsisk monsters, and welcomes back its namesake hero, Willow Ufgood, performed once again by the unmatchable Warwick Davis. Also appearing in the series will be Amer Chadha-Patel, Ruby Cruz, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori and Erin Kellyman.

The original “Willow” film is also available to watch on Disney+.
