With just a few episodes left of the second season of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian”, Chapter 14 feels like the point when everything is brought together and sets up the events that will lead to the finale.

Following Mando and Grogu meeting up with Ahsoka Tano, they set off to the ruined Jedi Temple on Tython to find someone to train and care for “The Child”.  Which as you might expect, it doesn’t go to plan when Moff Gideon and the Empire turn up to take Grogu, to try to continue their evil experiments.

This is the shortest episode of the season so far, but that doesn’t take away from the impact this episode has.  It’s packed full of action, with Mando defending off attacks from Stormtroopers, with the help of some familiar faces who we’ve seen already in the show, Fennec Shand played by Ming-Na Wen, who we saw introduced last year and Boba Fett.  Both of which bring even more action to the show and seeing them all teaming up to defend Grogu from the Empire is just fantastic to watch, especially once Boba gets his gear back.

There are so many moments in this episode where I did gasp out loud. It’s been pretty obvious at some point in this season that Moff Gideon was going to get his hands on Grogu, setting up a big daring rescue. However, it was still terrifying to see the Dark Troopers in action.    Also seeing what an Imperial Cruiser did to the Razor Crest was also another big moment that shocked me.

Seeing Grogu defending himself against Stormtroopers with a force choke wasn’t something I was expecting and seeing Moff Gideon’s toying with him was just cruel, but also played on Ahsoka’s warning from last week about being drawn to the dark side.  This is exactly what you want from a villain, someone who you want to see defeated, to draw you in and make you invested in the show.

This episode was directed by Robert Rodriguez, who has been behind many classic movies including “Desperado”, “Spy Kids” and “Alita: Battle Angel”, so is used to directing action, which was a major aspect of this show.  While often this episode felt more like a TV episode than a movie, there are still plenty of big moments that feel like they could have come straight out of a Star Wars film.

Chapter 14 is packed full of iconic moments that will be remembered for years to come, it was another fantastic episode, and the cliffhanger is setting up the final two episodes perfectly.  I’m like a kid on Saturday mornings waiting for the next instalment!
