Sherri Shepherd Joins ABC’s “Black Don’t Crack” Pilot
Earlier this year it was revealed that Disney’s ABC has ordered a pilot of a new multi-camera comedy series from Regina Hicks, which is now going to be called “Black Don’t Crack”.
The series will follow three former sorority sisters who lost touch after college, reunite during a pivotal point in their lives. They realize sometimes it’s okay to crack and when you do, no one will be there for you like your friends.
Deadline is reporting that this new comedy series will star Sherri Shepherd and she will be playing Angela Wright, a native New Yorker somewhere between 45 and death, but it’s hard to tell because “black don’t crack.” She’s a single mom who put aside her musical dreams to raise her son after her husband died. She’s been holding it down alone for years, taking care of her family instead of herself. When she is confronted with a personal crisis, she reunites with her sorority sisters to recapture the passion, ambition and sisterhood of their college glory days. Sherri Shepherd will also be a producer on the series.
“Black Don’t Crack” will be directed by Kelly Park, with Regina Hicks writing the series, along with being an executive producer with Viola Davis & Julius Tennon and Larry Wilmore.
Should the pilot be turned into a series, we should expect it to arrive on ABC and Hulu in the United States and as a “Star Original” on Disney+ internationally.
