Following the news that Owen Wilson has joined the cast of the upcoming movie “The Haunted Mansion”, which is based on the classic Disney theme park attraction.
Deadline is reporting that Rosario Dawson will also be starring in the film, along with LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish.
No plot details have yet been revealed, but the film will see a family moving into the mansion.
“The Haunted Mansion” will be directed by Justin Simien, who has previously directed “Dear White People” and “Bad Hair”. With “Aladdin” producers, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, producing the film, along with Nick Reynolds. Katie Dippold has written the script for the film.
Rosario Dawson has recently starred in the Disney+ Original series, “The Mandalorian” and the Netflix Marvel series “Daredevil”.
Filming is due to begin in Atlanta in October, and currently, the film is planned to be released theatrically first, rather than being a Disney+ Original.
Disney has had some major success with turning its well-known theme park attractions into film franchises, including “Jungle Cruise” and “Pirates Of The Caribbean”, though they’ve also had a few turkeys like “The Country Bears” and “Tomorrowland”. This is the second film based on “The Haunted Mansion”, which starred Eddie Murphy and is available to stream on Disney+.
