Earlier this year, Disney’s ABC released a brand new drama series, “Rebel”, which told the story of Annie “Rebel” Bello is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.

The series was originally released on ABC and Hulu in the United States, with the series released on Disney+ internationally as a Star Original.

Unfortunately, after just a few episodes aired, ABC cancelled the show, and due to a contract, Amazon’s IMDb has, it had the option to order a second season.

But the shows creator Krista Vernoff, who also is the showrunner for ABC’s “Station 19” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, took to social media to confirm the series won’t be happening.

THANK YOU to the fans behind the #SaveRebel campaign. Your passion was incredible. We have learned there won’t be a Season 2, but we truly hope Rebel & the extraordinary @ErinBrockovich will continue to inspire you to fight the good fight in your communities and in your lives.

She was also very critical of Disney’s ABC for cancelling the series after just a few episodes were released (and the show hadn’t even been released internationally on Disney+), stating that they never really gave it a chance.

While it’s unfortunate that “Rebel” wasn’t given an opportunity but the studios will no doubt want to invest money in something new or something that’s already popular, rather than putting money into a project that has already been cancelled, giving it the impression it’s not good.

“Rebel” is available to watch on Disney+ internationally and in the US. It’s available on IMDb.

What do you think of Disney cancelling “Rebel”?
