Disney has had lots of success with remakes of its classic animated films including some recent hits such as “Aladdin”, “The Lion King” “Cruella”, “Maleficent”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Mulan”.
With many projects in development, including “Pinocchio”, “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Little Mermaid”, another project being working on, is the original Walt Disney film, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.
Deadline has reported that Rachel Zegler will be playing “Snow White” in the film. She will soon be appearing in the upcoming DC Comics film “Shazam 2” and the 20th Century Studios film “West Side Story”.
The actress took to social media to confirm the news:
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is due to go into production in 2022 and will be directed by Marc Webb, who has previously directed “500 Days Of Summer” and the “Amazing Spider-Man” films. Marc Webb said in a statement:
“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale”
The songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who wrote songs from “La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman” will be writing new songs for the film. And the film also includes versions of classic songs from the original film, such as “Heigh-Ho,” “Someday My Prince Will Come” and “Whistle While You Work.”
The original animated classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is available to watch on Disney+ now.
