Prop Culture Host Dan Lanigan takes us behind the scenes of yet another classic film, “The Muppet Movie.” We get to see some of the amazing props that helped bring one of the most iconic movies to life. And, along the way, we meet some of the costume designers and puppeteers who help make it happen.

I love the Muppets. If the Muppets are involved, you can bet I’m going to watch it. It may be great. It may be awful. It may be somewhere in between, but I’m going to give it a shot. “The Muppet Movie” is one of my all time favorite movies and I love the detail that was put into some of the props along the way. This series has been great about giving a behind the scenes look for fans to really enjoy more about what makes their favorite movies so great.

In this episode, we get to see some of the costumes Miss Piggy wore in the film, the sign for the sleazy cafe the characters frequent, Fozzie’s iconic Studebaker and the banjo Kermit plays on the log to begin the film. “Rainbow Connection” is the iconic muppets song. It’s the song that anyone who watched the movies will most likely name first when asked about the songs. It was so cool to see the banjo and the detail that was put in to making this tiny instrument and to make it look like a frog was playing it.

One of the greatest things about this series is how moved the people involved are when they are reunited with their life’s work. Or, in the case of one man in this episode, with his father’s life’s work. It’s joy. It’s pure elation. Almost all of them are moved to tears, and it’s absolutely wonderful to see. It’s awesome to think that something that helped bring so much joy to me when I watched this film has also brought that much joy to the people who created it.

Lanigan is excelling in every single episode of this series. A complaint I’ve had with some of the Disney+ Original series has been the hosts. I’m not questioning their passion for the product they are helping to produce, but some just come across too hyper in their shows. You can tell when someone cares about what they’re doing and you can tell when they don’t. You can also tell when someone is nervous and when they aren’t. Lanigan, absolutely, cares about everything he shows the viewer and he isn’t remotely nervous when he appears on camera.

This series has been one of the best Disney+ Original series offered. It’s been wonderful to watch. I’ve binged every episode and may do so again. This is a series that I hope gets picked up for a second season.
