ABC Signature’s newest drama series, “Promised Land”, which is about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley, has been releasing weekly on ABC channel for the past month, but according to TVLine, the ratings haven’t been great, and the show is going to be pulled from ABC and moved to Hulu.

The last episode to air on ABC will be Episode 5 on Monday 21st February, with the last five episodes of “Promised Land” being released weekly on Hulu.  Episode 6 will arrive on Hulu on Tuesday 1st March.  The first five episodes will also be available on Hulu.

An ABC rep added:

Promised Land is a beautifully executed and tremendously entertaining series of which everyone at our company is extremely proud. We know it has a passionate audience that is very invested in this show, and those viewers will be able to stream all subsequent episodes exclusively on Hulu every Tuesday for the rest of the season.”

The series will star John Ortiz as Joe Sandoval, Cecilia Suárez as Lettie Sandoval, Augusto Aguilera as Mateo, Christina Ochoa as Veronica Sandoval, Mariel Molino as Carmen Sandoval, Tonatiuh as Antonio Sandoval, Andres Velez as Carlos, Katya Martín as Juana and Rolando Chusan as Billy and Bellamy Young as Margaret Honeycroft.

“Promised Land” is written and executive produced by Matt Lopez. Adam Kolbrenner and Maggie Malina also serve as executive producers. Executive producer Michael Cuesta will also direct.

Over the first four episodes, the show only managed to get a 0.2 demo rating each week.  Its audience dropped weekly from 1.9 million, down to 1.5 million total viewers.  Even considering DVR playback, the first episodes pulled in 2.9 million/0.3 ratings.

With the series being shifted to Hulu due to low ratings, it does look unlikely that this series will get another season, unless it does amazing on Disney’s streaming services.
