Filming on the new Avatar sequel movies is set to continue next week in New Zealand, as the films producer Jon Landau posted on Instagram that the sets were ready and the team behind the film was heading back to the country “next week.”

“Our #Avatar sets are ready — and we couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week. Check out the Matador, a high speed forward command vessel (bottom) and the Picador jetboat (top) — can’t wait to share more.”

Production on the Avatar sequels was brought to a halt in mid-march when New Zealand went into lockdown to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus.  Avatar 2 will be coming to cinemas on December 17th 2021, followed by more sequels in December 2023, 2025 and 2027.

Here are some more photos from the Avatar set, which were released just prior to the lockdown going into effect:

The first Avatar movie is available to stream on Disney+ now.
