At last years Disney Investor Day event, a brand new live-action musical film based on the classic Disney animated tale “Pinocchio” was announced to be in development for Disney+, using state-of-the-art CGI to bring Pinocchio to life.

Robert Zemeckis is directing the film, and Tom Hanks will be starring in it as Gheppto. With Cynthia Erivo playing The Blue Fairy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will provide the voice of Jiminy Cricket, Luke Evans will play the Coachman, Keegan-Michael Key will play Honest John, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play the title character of Pinocchio.

Today, during a quarterly financial results investors call, Disney’s Chief Financial Officer, Christine M. McCarthy revealed as part of a questions and answers session, that the new “Pinocchio” film would be arriving on Disney+ in the fiscal fourth quarter of 2022. This would be roughly between July and September 2022.

No exact release date has yet been announced, but hopefully, we will get an update on this film during Friday’s Disney+ day event.
