One of the upcoming live-action drama series coming to Disney+ this summer is “Turner and Hooch”.

This new series is a reboot/sequel of the 1989 Tom Hanks film of the same name, which is also available on Disney+.

The show stars Josh Peck as U.S. Marshal Scott Turner, who is the son of Hanks’ character, who  inherits as his partner a large unruly dog that he doesn’t want but grows to love.

The series also stars Carra Patterson as Jessica Baxter, Scott’s brave, street-smart partner; Brandon Jay McLaren as Xavier Wilson, a cool, enigmatic marine-turned-US Marshal; Anthony Ruivivar as Chief James Mendez, Scott’s boss with a secret soft spot for Scott’s new dog, Hooch; Lyndsy Fonseca as Laura Turner, Scott’s sweet, animal-loving sister; Jeremy Maguire as Matthew Garland, Laura’s dog-loving son; and Vanessa Lengies as Erica Mouniere, the quirky head of the US Marshals dog training program.

“Turner & Hooch” is a Disney+ original series produced by 20th Television. Matt Nix is creator, executive producer and writer on the series. McG is an executive producer and directed the series premiere. Michael Horowitz, Robert Duncan McNeill and Mary Viola also serve as executive producers, and Josh Levy serves as co-executive producer.

Entertainment Weekly just released their summer 2021 television preview, which has revealed some new details on the series.

Five French Mastiffs also star as Hooch, Scott’s slobbery, loveable French Mastiff, which at times was like “one giant mis- hap,” Peck says, and he added:

“You kind of hope they get close to what you want them to do, and then the human actors just adjust to whatever they’re doing.  But the dogs and I both work great when it comes to treats. We really bonded in that way.”

When he asked whether we might see a Tom Hanks cameo in the series, Peck says he wouldn’t count it out: “I’ll milk every resource. Tell him he can have my trailer.”

The first episode of “Turner and Hooch” arrives on Disney+ on Friday 16th July, with new episodes dropping weekly.  The series consists of 12 episodes.

Are you looking forward to “Turner and Hooch” arriving on Disney+?
