When the Walt Disney Company purchased 20th Century Fox, it obtained a huge treasure trove of franchises, and one of the most popular sci-fi brands is “Predator”.
Recently, Disney has entered into a legal battle over the US copyright of “Predator”, and according to some information revealed in court, an upcoming “Predator” film by Dan Trachtenberg is currently in development by 20th Century Studios and is currently titled “Skulls”. This new film stars Amber Midthunder, who has previously starred in FX’s Marvel show “Legion” and will apparently taking place in the past.
According to AVP Galaxy, this new film is due to be skipping theatres and heading directly to Hulu in the United States.
Since 20th Century Studios are creating the film, its also likely result in the film also being released as a Star Original internationally on Disney+.
Disney has previously confirmed that 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures are developing films for its streaming services, including Hulu and Disney+. With the last “Predator” movie not doing exceedingly well at the box office, shifting the film to streaming could give the franchise a new lease of life.
FX is also currently developing a new series for Hulu and Star On Disney+ based on another popular sci-fi franchise, “Aliens”.
Many of the previously released “Predator” films are already available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in some countries.
